Updates, Notes and Responses

• This morning, we wrote about how we come up with names and labels for our homebrew, which prompted this from Velky Al at Fuggled. Seems we’re not the only ones who have the (sinister?) habit of giving German names to the places we live in.
• We mentioned in this post that there were an increasing number of decent pubs at stations. Since then, we’ve heard news of a not-so-exciting development at Charing Cross, and rumours of Meantime beers at Liverpool Street.
• We’ve moaned about the lack of beer on BBC television more than once but it had never occured to us that, in fact, radio would be just as good. Yesterday’s serious-minded, intelligent show on the influence of American craft beer on UK brewing was, we hope, a pilot for more to come. If they found space for an eight part history of collars in 2002 — “This week, the rollneck sweater…” — then they can surely manage a series on beer?
• Gareth’s post here is a reminder that Brewdog are not a political party, cult or football team: you don’t have to choose sides, for or against. They’re just a company who sometimes get things right and sometimes don’t, and it is perfectly possible to talk about them with balance.
