Boak and Bailey collect the following types of personal information:
- Email addresses via our mailing list sign up process.
- Email addresses and Internet Protocol (IP) addresses via comment submission forms.
- Data about visits to the website, which may include potentially personally-identifying information such as IP addresses.
For further information or to request to see, amend or delete your data, please email contact@boakandbailey.com
Mailing list
Our email letter is managed through Mail Chimp and requires an active opt-in and confirmation of email address to subscribe. Each messages contains a clear unsubscribe link. The only data that we hold about you is the data you provided to Mail Chimp – your email address. This data is held and processed on our behalf by Mail Chimp – we never download it, and do not share it with anyone else.
Comments
We ask visitors who comment on our blog to provide a username and email address, and IP is automatically recorded against each comment.
This information is held against each comment in the database indefinitely as a standard function of WordPress. We are investigating ways to purge this data after a set period.
The username need not be personally identifying – you can choose anything you like.
The email address is only used to contact you if we have queries about the comment, and so you can (if you choose) receive notifications of follow-up comments on that post. It is never shared with anyone else.
The IP address is used to recognise repeat commenters and prevent their comments being identified as spam.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Cookies
A cookie is a string of information that a website stores on a visitor’s computer, and that the visitor’s browser provides to the website each time the visitor returns. This blog uses standard services from Google Analytics (privacy policy) and WordPress to collect anonymous information about users’ activity, such as the number of users viewing pages on the site and how long they spend on each page. We cannot access any personally identifiable information from this data.
Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content (e.g. videos, images, articles, etc.). Embedded content from other websites behaves in the exact same way as if the visitor has visited the other website.
These websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracing your interaction with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that website.
